About me

What I’m doing

I’m a junior web developer and recent career changer, having learned to code in my free time with the fantastic codebar Brighton. Since June 2018, I’ve also been on the codebar organising team, running free weekly coding workshops for people from underrepresented groups in tech.

Through codebar I’ve learned a huge amount, had the chance to help others, attend meetups and conferences and become part of the wonderful Brighton web community.

What I’ve done

After studying MA Sequential Design & Illustration at the University of Brighton, I worked for a clothing label and as an illustrator and EFL teacher, before moving into web production and online marketing for an international education group. My growing interest in how websites look and function led me to start my coding journey, and eventually working as a web developer.

In my free time I still doodle, to incorporate into coded projects — and from time-to-time take part in Brighton Artists’ Open Houses with my handmade badges!

What else?

I’m a Yorkshire lass making the most of living in brilliant Brighton. As well as digital events and meetups I love getting out and about to gigs, Brighton Festival and films at the Duke of York’s, cycling along the seafront, and continuing the quest for the best slice of cake in the city.
